Harbor Light Details
The Harbor Light on the third tier of fort Jefferson was constructed in 1876, after hurricanes damaged the original 1826 lighthouse. The structure is made of iron, in an effort to minimize the effect an attacking enemies' shrapnel. If you are around Fort Jefferson at night, take a peak up to the lighthouse to the its beacon. It's no longer used for navigational purposes, but still maintained by the NPS.
