The easiest and cheapest transport to the start point at Nizina would be via air taxi from McCarthy. This route is approximately 90 miles long, many visitors hire a guide familiar with the river to make the trip, although it is possible to paddle it independently. Knowledge of Alaskan rivers is crucial as the braiding of the rivers during glacial melt makes navigating difficult.
