Long House Details

Located on the Wetherill Mesa, Long House is the second-largest cliff dwelling and rangers offer the longest, most in-depth tour here. Over one hundred people lived here in the 1200s; now, you can tour the over 150 rooms. Your two-hour tour includes a round trip two and a quarter mile hike, and climbing two fifteen foot ladders. This tour starts at the Wetherhill Mesa Info Kiosk, an hour and a quarter drive from the Visitors Center (27 miles from the Visitors Center). Be aware that only vehicles under 25 feet are allowed on the Wetherill Mesa Road. You can tour Long House from Memorial Day Weekend through mid-October. Tours are $4 per person, and tickets are available in-person only at the Visitor and Research Center, Morefield Ranger Station, Colorado Welcome Center in Cortez, and the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum (which has more limited hours than your other ticket-purchasing locations).
