Telephone Road Details
If you're up for a strenuous hike while on Santa Rosa Island, opt for the Black Mountain Trail (eight miles roundtrip). Hike clockwise by taking Coastal Road south to Telephone Road and make your way to the mountain climb. To finish the hike, loop around on Soledad Road back to Coastal Road and the pier. Along the way, you'll pass the island visitor center and restrooms, both close to the pier. Keep in mind that day trips to Santa Rosa Island via Island Packers, the park-authorized concessionaire, are available only April through early November.
