On Santa Rosa Island it's likely that your gaze will rise skyward to the top of Soledad Peak, the island's highest point at 1,547 feet. The closest you'll get to the peak is via the three-mile Water Canyon Trail. The trail ends at the mouth of the canyon, which continues for another six miles before ending near Soledad Peak. Keep in mind that day trips to Santa Rosa Island via Island Packers, the park-authorized concessionaire, are available only April through early November.
