Hurricane Hole Details

This cove's somewhat intimidating name is well earned: the position of the cove forms an area of natural protection from hurricanes. Hurricane Hole is made up of several creeks, small bays, and mangrove-lined shores. Boaters have traditionally sought shelter from storms in places like this, but efforts to protect reefs and shorelines here created tension between boaters and the park in the past. Thanks to a set of mooring points, however, that conflict is largely a thing of the past.
