This moderate trail begins south of the Wind Cave Visitor Center south access road, on the west side of Highway 385. The 2.8-mile roundtrip journey takes you past a prairie dog town and along the edge of an area charred by a prescribed fire. You'll travel down into Cold Brook Canyon and travel along the bottom to Fossil Ridge. Be on the lookout for bison and rattlesnakes, and beware of flash floods if it starts to rain.
