Mowry Canal Trail Details

If you're testing the waters with paddling, or looking for a shorter trip, try the Mowry Canal Trail. Get on the water at the canoe/kayak launch at Convoy Point and follow the mangroves along the coastline north to the channel. Turn left into the channel for a short loop, making sure to keep an eye out for manatees, ospreys, and pelicans, before going back out of the channel to the spoil islands just offshore. Make your way back to the launch and you'll have gone two miles roundtrip. Safe paddling practices include going with a buddy, filing a float plan so someone knows where you're going and with whom, checking the weather for high winds or storms; carrying extra water, food and sunscreen; and paddling within your experience level. Find a PDF of the trail guide on the park's [website](https://www.nps.gov/bisc/planyourvisit/canoeing-and-kayaking.htm).
