The West Entrance to Yellowstone Park opened in 1905 near the town of West Yellowstone. The 14-mile access road quickly crosses the Montana-Wyoming Border and parallels the Madison River before reaching Madison Campground. Along the way you'll see the Madison Plateau to the south and the rim of the Yellowstone caldera to the north.
