The Hoodoos Details

A hoodoo is a tall, narrow rock formation with a hard capstone that partly protects the material below from erosion. The thin bodies and hard heads give hoodoos a human-like appearance. They're said to be bad luck. Located deep in the park's backcountry, Yellowstone's volcanic hoodoos can best be viewed from the Hoodoo Basin Trail.
