Snake River Drainage Details
Sourced from a number of small springs just south of Yellowstone Lake, the small streams that make up Snake River flow through the southern end of the park, joining Heart Lake, Lewis River, and Jackson Lake. Thought to have been named by the Shoshone Native Americans, this drainage leads to a number of popular fishing areas, and has some of the best diversity among fish species.
