Midway Geyser Basin Trail Details

Although Midway Geyser Basin is not a particularly large basin by Yellowstone standards, it is home to two of the largest thermal features in the park. The boardwalk trail crosses Firehole River and enters the misty, damp, unstable area that contains the massive, 120-foot deep Grand Prismatic Spring, and Excelsior Geyser, formally the world's largest. The trail loops around to a small hill that provides decent views across the basin before returning to the trailhead.
