Madison River Details

The Madison River is one of the fly-fishing meccas of the world, and is rich in brown trout, rainbow trout, and mountain whitefish. Named for President James Madison, the river is surrounded by lush meadows where you may see bison and elk feeding, and the river itself is commonly dotted with waterfowl, notably trumpeter swans. About 1/5 mile from the West Entrance is a side road that leads to the river and Barnes Pools, a famous fly-fishing spot.
