Madison Campground Details
Set at 6,800 feet near the Madison River, Madison Campground offers a classic Yellowstone camping experience in a partly wooded setting known for wildlife and excellent fishing. Its central location makes it a convenient base for exploring Old Faithful and the Upper, Midway, and Lower Geyser Basins. The campground includes 278 individual sites and three group sites for tents, RVs, combination setups, and ADA needs, along with walk in sites for hikers and cyclists. Sites range from partly shaded to more open and sunny, and all include a picnic table and fire grate. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated in select pull through and back in sites, though space for larger rigs is limited and terrain may be uneven. Amenities include multiple comfort stations with flush toilets and cold running water, dishwashing areas, a dump station, recycling, and a small mercantile offering camping supplies, snacks, and souvenirs. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at individual campsites, and showers are not available on site. The nearest laundry and shower facilities are located at Canyon Campground. Internet service is not available and cell coverage is limited. The season runs from early-May to mid-October, with dates subject to change.
