Artists Paint Pots Trail Details

This easy trail provides an up-close look at the Gibbon Geyser Basin and over 50 active mud pots, hot springs, steam vents, and small geysers all situated in a small, fragile area. Known best for its colorful mud pots, which have blue, grey, brown, red, and orange tints, as well as different sizes and actions, this short boardwalk trail makes a loop through an area of young lodgepole pines, and ascents the small Paintpot Hill, from which there are good views overlooking the basin, before circling back to the trailhead.
