With its cutting-edge, eco-friendly design, the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center serves as the gateway to this peaceful sanctuary at Phelps Lake. The Center is the trailhead for the eight-mile hike to the lake and also features information on Rockefeller's conservation work and an interesting sensory exhibit designed to enhance your experience of the preserve through sight, sound, and touch. You can also find composting toilets inside of the center. The Center is open May 30 to Sept. 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located four miles south of Moose, Wyo., on the Moose-Wilson Road; the road is closed to RVs over 23.3 feet long and trailers.
