Humes Ranch Loop Trail Details

The historic Humes Ranch was a homestead founded by some of the earliest settlers along the Elwha River. The Humes brothers arrived in the early 1900s while en route to the Klondike and the gold that supposedly awaited them. The homestead, which is slowly undergoing restoration and reconstruction, is still visible, marked by the old cabins and the abundant fruit trees in Geyser Valley. This popular trail walks high above the Elwha River, traveling through the old homestead site, a fire-ravaged hillside, meadows, and lowland river valleys rife with salal, vine maple, huckleberries, deer, and elk.
