Sahale Arm Trail Details
Stunning alpine sunsets and sunrises are best viewed from the edge of Sahale Glacier Camp at the terminus of the Sahale Arm Trail. Accessible from the Cascade Pass Trail, the Sahale Arm Trail climbs past spectacular and rewarding views of Sahale Mountain, Doubtful Lake, and the wide Boston Basin. Much of the trail is exposed, and passes through a landscape filled with mountain blueberries, glacier lilies, tall grasses, pika, and black bears. After numerous switchbacks and a steep, rocky climb alongside a pretty stream, the trail finally reaches the glacier's edge, and hikers are rewarded by a wide vista of endless jagged peaks and cavernous valleys. Camping in this area requires a backcountry camping permit, and it is not advised to hike these trails at night.
