Silver Falls Trail Details

The moderately difficult Silver Falls Trail has three access points: Find one trailhead in the B loop of the Ohanapecosh Campground and follow this relatively level (and therefore popular) path about 1.5 miles along the east side of the Ohanapecosh River to the falls. Cross the bridge and then loop back to the campground on the west side of the river, for a total gain of 300 feet over 3 miles; 90 minutes. Locate another trailhead northwest of the Stevens Canyon Entrance Station, across the road from the Grove of the Patriarchs trailhead, and follow this trail for just 1 mile with about 300 feet of gain; 45 minutes. Or, head north of the Ohanapecosh Campground on State Route 123 for about 1.6 miles and look for a pullout on the west side of the road. Park here and then hike about .3 miles down a steep trail and turn right when you hit a junction, continuing another 75 yards to the falls. This .6-mile route also sees about 300 feet of elevation change; 45 minutes. The crystal-clear Ohanapecosh River starts among the glaciers and snowfields on Mount Rainier and eventually tumbles over 95-foot-high Silver Falls. Pause to enjoy the view, but beware of the slippery rocks near the falls.
