The Great White Throne Details
Named by a Methodist minister visiting the canyon in 1916, this 6,744-foot white mountain of Navajo sandstone is one of Zion National Park's most iconic landmarks. Located near Angels Landing, it's visible from a number of different trails and roads leading throughout the park, and although it is not well-suited to hiking, it is one of the most popular climbing trails in the area. When the light is right, it is easy to see why it was chosen to symbolize the throne of God.
