Rim Overlook/Navajo Knobs Trail Details
This strenuous trail is actually two trails in one, beginning at the Hickman Bridge Trail trailhead. The Rim Overlook is the first part of the trail, and the strenuous 2.3-mile path climbs 1,110 feet in elevation. Upon reaching the Rim Overlook, hikers are rewarded with panoramas of Fruita, the Fremont River, and the Waterpocket Fold from atop the cliff. Those who turn around here will have completed a 4.6-mile round trip hike. The trail continues for another 2.4 miles, becoming the Navajo Knobs Trail, which travels along slickrock and dramatic canyon rims. After a steep 600-foot climb, the trail ends at another panoramic view at Navajo Knobs, clusters of white and brown buttes. This roundtrip hike is 9.4 miles. Distance varies from 2.3 miles one way for Rim Overlook to 4.7 miles one way for Navajo Knobs. Elevation gain adds another 510 feet for Navajo Knobs
