Chimney Rock Trailhead Details

The Chimney Rock Trailhead is the starting point for two of Capitol Reef's more challenging trails: the Chimney Rock Loop (a.k.a. the Chimney Rock Canyon Route) and the Spring Canyon Route (Upper and Lower). The former is a 3.6 mile loop that you can do in a day, while the latter -- accessible about midway down the Chimney Rock Canyon trail -- is a multi-day backcountry adventure. The trailhead, located 3 miles west of the Capitol Reef visitor center on Highway 24, has parking and restrooms as well as trail information.
