Shafer Trail Details
Thrill seeking 4-wheel drive enthusiasts will delight in the Shafer Trail. Located before reaching the Visitor Center in the Island in the Sky, this old cattle trail descends steeply and somewhat frightfully 2.5 hours to the paved Potash Road. The spine-tingling route hugs the cliff walls with sheer drop-offs 1,000 feet to the White Rim Trail. Death-defying, thrilling and not too be missed, the Shafer Trail is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for those with the stomach! Check with the rangers for trail conditions.
