Neck Spring Details
0.8 miles south of the Island in the Sky Visitors Center is the Neck Spring trailhead. "The Neck" refers to the skinny 40-foot wide isthmus that connects the Island in the Sky to the mesa directly to the north. Take a few hours to enjoy this 5.8-mile loop hike that takes you past streams and views of the red rock cliffs and stone formations. One of the many virtues of this hike is that it is long enough to really stretch your legs but not too long or steep. It may be Canyonlands' most "intermediate" hike – steep in spots without ever feeling like you're climbing Mt. Everest! Neck Spring shares a parking lot with the Shafer Trail.
