Castolon Visitor Center Details
The Castolon Visitor Center is open seasonally from November - April. During that time it is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. with a brief midday closure for lunch. It is located inside the La Harmonia store which can be accessed through Castolon by way of the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. The store is named La Harmonia because the original owner, Cipriano Hernandez, wanted it to be a peaceful place for both his Mexican and American clientele. You can obtain $12 backcountry permits here as well as pay entrance fees. You will find exhibits about the multi-faceted history of the border country region of the park as well as a bookstore and restrooms.
