About an hour south of Mount Rushmore, and easily accessible via Iron Mountain Road, Custer State Park is one of the largest state parks in the United States. The park 71,000-acre park is home to 1,300 buffalo that regularly roam the prairies and roads, and is the site of the annual Buffalo Roundup, held each September.
