South Cedar Creek Landing Details
No matter how much time you have, you still have time to paddle from South Cedar Creek; this is a terrific option for those traveling with one vehicle. Put in is at the Cedar Creek Landing, where you'll also find a parking lot. Once in the water, head upstream or downstream; whichever way you choose, you'll find bald cypress trees lining the banks and canopying overhead. If you decide to go downstream, you can paddle to Dawson's Lake, popular for fishing and maybe even spotting river otter and other wildlife. When you're ready, turn back around and return to Cedar Creek Landing. Remember, Congaree National Park does not rent canoes, kayaks, or stand up paddle boards, so if you don't have your own, you'll need to rent from an outfitter in Columbia, about 30 minutes from the park.
