Village of Peninsula Details
Peninsula is the historic heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, a seaport town that grew up around the Ohio & Erie Canal in its heyday. Located on a bend in the Cuyahoga River, and surrounded on three sides by water, the village catered to river traffic with an abundance of bars and hotels, and also was a center for boat building and quarrying. Many of Peninsula's 19th-century buildings remain, including the 1835 Bronson Memorial Church, and the village still welcomes travelers to a Main Street dotted with shops, restaurants, hotels, museums, and art galleries. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Peninsula Depot Visitor's Center on Mill Street has information about touring the village.
