Ramsey Cascades Details

Arguably the most beautiful and awe-inspiring falls in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this 100-foot waterfall spills and tumbles in rushing streams over ledges and outcroppings until it collects in a remarkably small pool at its base. Surrounded by an array of black locust trees, tulip trees, and rhododendron, the falls are named after a family who once owned a hunting camp in the area. The falls are rather remote and can be difficult to access, as the trail gains over 2,000 feet in elevation over it's 4-mile length, and is considered quite strenuous. Visitors are cautioned not to climb to the top of the falls, as people have obtained serious injury, and sometimes death, while trying to do so. Trailhead: Drive six miles east of Gatlinburg on Highway 321 and turn at the Greenbrier entrance to the park. Follow the signs 4.7 miles to the trailhead.
