Lakeview Drive Details

Lakeview Drive --sometimes dubbed "The Road To Nowhere" -- begins in the nearby town of Bryson City, climbing up into the mountains along a gorge-like path before dead-ending at Fontana Lake. The lake was created by damming the Tuckasegee River. At the end of the six-mile road is a tunnel that leads to a number of rugged backcountry hiking trails -- literally a gateway to the wilderness of the Great Smoky Mountains.
