Kephart Prong Trail Details
Following an old roadbed build by long-banished logging companies, this gently rolling trail crosses five log footbridges as it skirts this prong, or branch, of the Oconaluftee River. The trail, which is wide, well maintained, and easy to follow, runs into the decrepit ruins of an old Civilian Conservation Corps Camp from the 1930s, and ends at a recently refurbished shelter that is popular with distance hikers.
