John Oliver Place Details

This was the home of John and Lucretia Oliver, the first permanent European settlers of Cades Cove. The cabin was constructed between 1822 and 1823 on the higher, dryer end of the valley. It's the oldest home in Cades Cove and still remarkably well-preserved despite being built with hand tools and held together mostly by gravity and dried mud.
