Hen Wallow Falls Details
Hen Wallow Falls drops 90 feet in a spectacular fan shaped spray of cool water that begins only two feet wide at the top of the falls, and spreads to almost 20 feet at the base. Surrounded by a shady canopy of poplars, hemlocks, chestnuts, and the occasional tulip tree, these falls are some of the most impressive, but seldom seen falls in the park. Access to the plunge pool is from a signed side trail from the Gabes Mountain Trail in the Cosby Area. The Gabes Mountain Trail is relatively easy, but access to the falls can be steep, rough, and much more difficult. Trailhead: Park in the designated hiker parking area at Cosby Picnic Area (near the entrance to Cosby Campground). Then backtrack on foot approximately 100 yards along the road to the signed start of the Gabes Mountain Trail.
