Cove Hardwood Exhibit Details

This riverside exhibit details the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in the sheltered coves of the Great Smoky Mountains, as well as efforts to preserve and protect the park's plant and wildlife. The cove hardwood forest found along the middle-elevation streams and low, protected north-facing slopes of the Smokies are found only in the southern Appalachian mountains and are a rich repository of life, especially in areas where virgin forests still stand.
