Cosby Details
The one-time "Moonshine Capital of the World," Cosby is a quiet corner of the park where your goal is not to flee federal revenue agents, but rather the big tourist crowds in spring, summer and fall. There's a large campground here that typically has sites available when the others in the park are full. Cosby has some excellent hiking trails, and even the highly accessible Cosby Nature Trail is usually uncrowded. You can take a moderate, four-mile hike to Hen Wallow Falls or the more challenging paths to Snake Den and the Mount Cammerer fire tower. Rangers occasionally present campfire programs at the Cosby amphitheater and lead sunset hikes to Sutton Ridge.
