Alum Cave/Mount Le Conte Trail Details

Climbing Mount Le Conte, this trail is remarkably popular despite its difficulty. Although it's one of the steepest trails ascending the 6,593-foot mountain, it is also one of the shortest, and is often considered the most scenic. Passing landmarks like Arch Rock, Inspiration Point, Eye of the Needle, and Little Duck Hawk Ridge, and trail's namesake, Alum Cave (named for it's vast alum deposits), it climbs steeply through groves of hemlocks and yellow birch to the LeConte Lodge and its 10 rustic cabins. The trail intersects with the Rainbow Falls Trail and trails to LeConte's four peaks. It is also commonly shortened to reach individual landmarks.
