Alpine Lakes Loop Trail Details

To access the Alpine Lakes Loop Trail, take the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive and park at the Bristlecone Parking Area just outside of the Wheeler Peak Campground. From there the trail leads to Stella Lake and Teresa Lake, ideal picnic spots from which to enjoy the views and wildflowers you will encounter along the way. Even though this hike is relatively easy, it is still at a high altitude, which can put more strain on your body than some expect. Drink plenty of water, take breaks frequently, and listen to your body for cues on an appropriate pace at this high altitude. This is one of the most highly recommended trails in the park. It has the most reward for the least amount of work, so hikers of any ability level will enjoy what this hike has to offer.
