Lunch Creek Details
Lunch Creek is as charming as its name sounds. Located one mile east of Logan Pass on Going-to-the-Sun Road, it's the first creek the road crosses when heading east from the pass. You can walk from the pass, or drive to the ample parking lot. The creek flows down a natural rock staircase in front of Pollock Mountain and is often surrounded by wildflowers in the summer. It's a popular stop along Going-to-the-Sun Road, situated nearly at the top of the Continental Divide. You might see mountain goats or bighorn sheep if you walk along the trail that leads to a large 500-foot waterfall. Watch for signs, because years of visitors walking off-trail caused erosion, and the Park Service has worked hard to replace native vegetation. And while the hike is short, bring a picnic - like the name implies, it's a perfect spot to lunch.
