Mott Island Docks Details
From May through September, the park's administrative offices are headquartered on Mott Island, just across Rock Harbor from Isle Royale, next to Tookers Island and Caribou Island. The docks here are day-use only, open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. The Ranger III, one of the park's ferryboats, has its own dock here-- this dock is off-limits to public users. The island is considered a Developed Area, which means that personal electronics (generators, music players, televisions) are allowed. Boaters must either pay the $4 day-use fee, or purchase a Season Boat Rider Pass or an Individual Season Pass. If you plan to stay overnight, you have to obtain a camping permit as well, which can be done online or in person at any of the park visitor centers.
