Fort Edgecomb State Historic Site was established in a time when colonial rule was an impending threat, and the remains of old barracks, guns, and quarters give hint to the strength of this fortress complex. Overlooking the Sheepscot river at the highest point, visitors are able to revisit the rich history via interpretive panels, walk through the ruins, or take a guided tour while overlooking the activity of the waterway, but the blockhouse here is the focal point. Built in 1809, it is known as the most well-preserved of its time. Facilities: Picnic Area, Parking, Restrooms
