Fort Allen Park Details

This 9.3 acres park offers sweeping views of Portland Harbor, Casco Bay, and the busy sailboat and commercial fishermen traffic. The park is part of the Eastern Promenade - the popular shoreline trail. It's named after Ethan Allen, a Revolutionary War hero who captured Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. There is also the mast of the U.S.S. Portland, which was commissioned in 1933 by the Navy and located here. There is a steep, but well-maintained, trail that connects to the lower section of the Eastern Promenade. This is an excellent spot to sit back and enjoy the view.
