Pogy Notch Trail Details

The only connector trail between the north and central areas of the park, this trail originates at Russell Pond Campground and terminates at the South Branch Pond Campground. The trail heads north, skirting Russell Pond shore. There are two immediate trail junctions - Wassataquoik Lake Trail at .1 miles and Grand Falls Trail at .2 miles. Continue out of the pond area headed north. At 1.4 miles, the trail crosses a small brook with open swampy area. Continue, and cross a deep gully with a large brook at 2.6 miles. The trail skirts Pogy Pond, and crosses a brook several times between miles 5.0 and 6.3. The trail passes beaver bogs between miles 6.8 and 7.2 before reaching the junction of the South Branch Mountain Trail. Continue on the Pogy Notch Trail, beginning an ascent to the Center Ridge Trail junction at 8.1 miles and the Howe Brook Trail junction at 8.5 miles and the North Traveler Trail at 9.2 miles before reaching the South Branch Pond Campground.
