Katahdin Lake Trail Details
This level trail follows the old Katahdin Lake Tote Road from Roaring Brook Road to the lake. The trail starts on the east side of Avalanche Field, and there is a small parking area for day hikers. After a half mile the trail crosses Sandy Stream near the ruins of the old Hersey Dam before passing through an old logging camp site. At 1.7 miles the trail junctions with Martin Ponds Trail. At 3 miles the trail junctions with the other end of the Martin Ponds trail and also with a trail leading to the Katahdin Lake Day-use Picnic Area and canoe rentals.
