Winter Harbor Light Details
From Frazer Point and along the western side of the Schoodic Peninsula, visitors will see the Winter Harbor Light, a lighthouse on Mark Island near the entry to Winter Harbor's main entry. Built in and established in 1856, Winter Harbor Lighthouse was deactivated in 1933. With a keeper's house, a boathouse, and an oil house on the property, this lighthouse has a unique appearance. The lighthouse was home to nine lighthouse keepers and their families over the course of its service. The light and keeper's house were listed in the National Register of Historic Places as Winter Harbor Light Station in 1988. It is now privately owned and not open to the public.
