Tallulah Gorge State Park Details
Tallulah Gorge State Park is home to one of the most massive canyons in the southeastern United States. Many trails and unique wildlife can be found along the rim and bottom of this 1,000-foot deep gorge that runs over two miles along the Tallulah River. To preserve the ecosystem only 100 visitors a day are allowed permits to hike the floor, but there is a 10-mile paved trail following an old railroad track that is always open for hiking and biking. For the more daring guests, there is also a suspension bridge that hangs 80-feet in the air across the canyon floor. The bridge is perfect for viewing the six waterfalls that flow over a mile down the river and drop over 500 feet while making their way through the gorge.
