Storm Pass Details

This high alpine pass is a popular trail for longer trips from the Boulder Brook Trailhead to Lily Lake or Estes Cone. Because the Pass is located at 10.250 feet, its access trail features a number of major elevation changes, including some particularly steep climbs, and should not be attempted by hikers who are not acclimated to the elevations in the Rockies. Despite its difficulty, the generally forested trail contains many good views, including vast panoramas across Glacier Basin and Glacier Creek, and vistas overlooking Lily Ridge and Lily Lake. Storm Pass is 3.75 miles from Boulder Brook Trailhead (elevation change of 1400 ft), 3 miles from Lily Lake (elevation change of 1,323 ft) and 2.6 miles from Longs Peak Ranger Station (elevation change of 850 ft).
