Lava Cliffs Details
Look northwest of the parking lot here to see the Lava Cliffs, an area of volcanic rock laid down by eruptions in the Never Summer Mountains between 29 million and 24 million years ago. Composed of layers of volcanic ash, the cliffs were later cut into by glacial ice, which exposed a cross-section of the rock.
