Glenwood Canyon Details

Carved by the mighty Colorado River over 3 million years ago, this 12.5-mile canyon is one of the largest of its kind in the state. You can go hiking along the Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path, white water rafting down the rivers wild rapids, or even swimming through the emerald waves of Hanging Lake. And although it is famous for its stunning natural sights, it was also where the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad was laid during the 1800s. In addition, it was also home to the first road in the Rocky Mountains that could handle vehicles.
