Parsons Memorial Lodge Details

This humble building at the northern edge of Tuolumne Meadows seems almost like a natural extension of Yosemite's high country wilderness. Built in the summer of 1915 from pink feldspar and grey granite, the rustic lodge was intended to serve as the club headquarters, meeting place, and reading room for the Sierra Club. It still stands as a testament to the club's devotion to environmental preservation with its rustic design and use of largely local materials. In 1987, the lodge was named a National Historic Landmark, and although it was one of the first stone structures built in any National Park, it is still open seasonally (and somewhat sporadically) for visitors and admirers alike. Parsons Memorial Lodge "may be open" from 10 am to 4 pm beginning in late June.
