Dana-Gibbs View (T36) Details

Mount Dana is the second highest peak (after Mount Lyell) in the Park, at an elevation of 13,061 feet. It is a popular hiking destination because of its beautiful summer wildflower gardens. It is named for James Dana of Yale University, a geologist who made pioneering studies of mountain-building, volcanic activity. He also studied the origin and structure of continents and oceans around the world. Mount Gibbs is located next to Mount Dana, however, it sees only a fraction of hikers compared to Mount Dana.
